Vermont’s First Gotland Sheep
Vermont Grand View Farm has been instrumental in establishing Gotland sheep in Vermont and the northeast.
They first introduced a high percentage of Gotland sheep into their flock in 2014. In 2020, they joined three other farms in importing the first 100% Swedish Gotland sheep embryos into the United States. In 2021, their first 100% Gotland sheep embryos were born, starting their flock of 100% purebred Gotland sheep. Each year, VT Grand View Farm continues to build their purebred Gotland sheep flock through artificial insemination and natural breeding.
Since visiting Gotland, Sweden, Kim and Chuck Goodling recognized the importance of obtaining pure Swedish Gotland sheep genetics to bring their breeding benchmarks up to those highly esteemed Gotland sheep breeding standards in Sweden of:
– lustrous gray curls,– black faces and legs,– and even curl and color.
This opportunity to import 100% Swedish Gotland sheep embryos allows them to build their flock on the highest quality Gotland sheep genetics available in the United States.
VT Grand View Farm offers:
• Gotland sheep breeding stock• Heirloom wool products for your home• Shepherd mentoring• Fiber art classes• Overnight farm stays
