Pasture Born, Forage Fed
Our flock of grade Cheviots is shepherded with as extensive and low-input systems as possible. The flock is kept on pasture year-round (grazing about 250+ days/year and bale grazing the rest) including during lambing with a loose form of adaptive multi-paddock grazing. Health and hardiness of sheep and land is critical to our beliefs surrounding proper management of resources, putting greater emphasis on prevention than treatment of disease. Less than 5% of our flock requires deworming over the course of the year with many individuals having never received anthelmintic in their lifetime. Our flock is free of foot rot and requires no regular hoof trimming under our management. We aim to develop a stabilized composite that requires no tail docking, can lamb on pasture, and produce a medium-grade fleece.
Siri and Colin are both full time shearers working as Yankee Clippers Shearing. They provide ASI-certified shearing services for flocks of all sizes in New England and New York.
