Fools Farm was founded in 2022 in Tunbridge, Vermont. We breed dual-purpose sheep for wool/ meat & breed dual-purpose chickens. During the grazing season, our flock of 20 Romney/ Romeldale CMV ewes and their lambs rotationally graze 21.5 acres of clover-rich pasture. Our flock is known for it's excellence in meat and wool quality as we get frequent praise about both from our customers. We sell our wool to the local sweater making company, Muriels of Vermont. We strive to sell our lambs for on-farm slaughter and work with Mary Lake. Please inquire about breeding stock. We sold breeding rams to Zyla Nuite and Bobolink Farm before and our rams have bred at Songbird Farm and Flying Dog Farm before. Our Romney Ram, Günther, won meat and fiber champion at the Tunbridge World's Fair before and even made it onto the poster in 2025. We strive to keep the flock variety and high fiber and meat quality up through our breeding practices and seek to add a Romeldale CVM ram in 2026 to maintain our cross breed and open face/leg features.
The sheep and poultry are protected by our livestock guardian dogs Guiseppe Seppeloneous The Great (AKA Seppe) and Mr. Rocky-James who live and protect them on pasture and around the barn by watching out and singing their songs through barks. We also herd the sheep with our border collie, Lola Beans, who joined our family in 2024 through the breeding of Beverly Lambert.
Our farm hosts Vermont's only blade shearing school that is being organized by Mary Lake. Instructors include legends like Kevin Ford and we are proud to have hosted the school for the past four years with many more years to come. Reach out to Mary early if you're interested in learning blade shearing as the class fills up sometimes within 24 hours.
In 2026, we're starting to sell eggs and to operate a micro chicken- hatchery so that we anticipate selling sexed day-old chicks of Bielefelder Chickens between May and August.
